ABOUT THE CLIENT


The client is the leading retail company in fashion and lifestyle and one of the highly growth-oriented businesses with a sales of Rs.2,000 crores. They manufacture and market casual and formal apparel and accessories for men and women. The company’s products include trousers, shirts, suits, knitted garments and many more. After consolidating its market leadership with its own brands, it introduced premier international labels, enabling Indian consumers to buy the most prestigious global fashion wear and accessories within the country.


THE CHALLENGE


The transaction processing and operational systems were supported by SAP and Retek. IT Applications (Primarily SAP, Retek) had been historically designed to support transactional business processes and operational reporting. Reporting design and patterns focused on enabling specific business functionality and structuring operational data to facilitate operational reporting as opposed to analytical or management reporting. Getting data from different departments for preparing management reports was a challenge due to issues with data accuracy and effort required for reconciliation.


THE VISION


The company was looking to rollout an Enterprise wide BI Solution for their top management and business users. The basic aims were to improve the standardization, automation, accuracy, timeliness, comprehensiveness, relevance, and personalization of performance, monitoring and reporting across the business.


THE SOLUTION


Transforming transactional data into cube data of various dimensions was a part of the process. Developing sophisticated dashboards and scorecards that were regularly updated comprised the rest of the solution.
